Whoopie!!!

Last night was AMAZING! We put both kids down at 8:00, crawled in bed and watched Desperate Housewives and then went to sleep. I tried a formula for bedtime that I saw at Walmart yesterday. It is Enfamil Restful. I figured that it was just a waste of money, but bought it none the less! We are still on breastmilk, but at bedtime I tried this. I did formula at bedtime with Sadie, as well. Well... it works! I suggest ANY mommy having sleep issues at night to buy it! They only sale it in small cans, but you are only using it at night! I woke up at 12:45 last night and realized he still hadn't woken up! So I went and pumped and then woke him up to feed. Then at 6:00 this morning he woke up to feed again! Oh my goodness!!! YEAH! I told Jeff this morning and he was shocked! The formula is supposed to take longer to digest or something like that... well, THANK YOU ENFAMIL! I was worried at first thinking, will he get enough to eat all day? Yes, I've got it figured out that he will still get in 7 feedings and he is eating 3 oz each time!

Oh, as a side note... if you do use this formula, you have to go up a nipple size of the bottle. Its a just a little thicker. BUT, I knew it would be ok, because of how fast the flow is when nursing.

Chicher, Nana, and Mimi to the rescue

I called my mom last week, one day several times, which isn't too out of the ordinary, except I cried just about everytime! She came up and stayed Wednesday-Friday and will be back on Monday for 2 days. On Wednesday when she got here, she kept Sadie and Tripp and let me have 2 1/2 hours of "me time" getting my hair cut and colored! So nice! Then on Thursday she went with us to get Tripp's 2nd PKU test and Sadie's 2 shots she missed last week. Then we went for lunch at Chili's in Stephenville. On the way home we had to feed Tripp again and change his diaper, which was rough to do in the 20 degree weather with all the wind blowing! Friday she did laundry and dishes for me!

The week before that Jeff's mom, AKA Nana, came and helped so much. Laundry, dishes, vaccummed, etc. And the week of Christmas Shannon, AKA Chicher, came and helped. It was so nice to have them here between taking care of Sadie while Tripp had to go back to the hospital for his jaundice tests so often, and cleaning the house for me! Not to mention Shannon's YUMMY stew! I feel awful I didn't get a picture of them holding Tripp... next time!

Tripp : Week 3

Tripp is growing so fast. He is already started to pick his head up when laying on our chest and has just started to seem more alert. We put him under the jungle mat. He looked around at everything with big eyes. Sadie showed her first signs of jealousy! I put her in her high chair to color, her new favorite thing to do. But, as soon as he got under the mat, she threw a fit! As soon as we got him up and let her down, she had to check it out. Soon she realized, this thing isn't all that great!

Tripp is now eating about 2.5-3 oz every 3 hours... and loves to eat! I'm stealing what our friend Brook says about their little girl: He likes his groceries! After he eats, most times he is up for about 45 miunutes or so and then sleeps until the next feeding. Occasionaly, he will stay awake between 2 feedings... but that isn't typical.

He is a sweet little boy, but sure does let you know when he doesn't like something. Grunts like you wouldn't believe!

Insight from a VERY new mother of 2!

I don't know how much I can say I "know" about this subject, just yet, at least. But, I thought I'd fill you in on what I've learned... or haven't learned!

I've learned that with the 2nd baby here, it is SO different than when I had just Sadie, in so many ways. With Sadie, never would I have let her sleep in our bed. Tripp spent about a week and a half in our bed every night! I broke that last night and he did great in his crib! I had to look back at blog posts I had done with Sadie at this age and relized, it was ok and she turned out great!

I also have realized that I hate nursing!!! I despise it to be completely honest! I'm still doing it, but can't wait to hit my goal and be done. We found out that our doctor is not going to code our c-section as "due to complications", so now we have to pay in full our entire hospital bill! So to also say, hey Jeff, can we pay for formula also, would just be wrong!

I've realized it will ALWAYS be hard to balance time, money, pictures, etc. with both Tripp and Sadie! I will always worry that I'm not giving one as much attention, love, memories as the other! But, like my mom always said to me, "fair, doesn't mean even, it means you give to one what that one needs at the moment!" I don't know how parents of more than 2 do it!

I've realized that it will be ok! I say that after a few days ago I was having meltdown after meltdown. I have been blessed with 2 pretty easy babies, so far, and yet the lack of sleep and the hormone rollercoaster going on in my body have taken a toll! I love them both more than I ever understood... which makes me understand how much my mother TRULY loves me and my sister! Gosh, how awful I feel for the times I was so mean to her. But, look at us now... we have an amazing relationship and I STILL know, she loves me and would drop it all for me! That relationship is what will get me through the middle school and high school years! When Sadie tells me how much she hates me, I'll think of what my mother and me have now!

I also realize that I'm a control freak... ok, I always knew I was, but even more now. Which probably is what lead to the meltdown last week! I can't control hardly anything with 2 still in diapers! Between feedings, lunch, sippy cups, burp pads, laundry, dinner, and the dog... right now, as my sister would say, its about survival! HAHA! But, so true!

I realize that I need the Lord Jesus more than you can imagine!!! When the 2:00 a.m. feeding comes and Tripp WON'T burp (he's a terrible burper) I just want to go back to sleep, I've got to cry out to the Lord for patience! When Sadie is having a tantrum... YES those have hit... and I'm thinking what has happened to my child and Lord please don't let us need Supernanny, I can pray to him again and he is there!!!

I realize that as much as I want to claw Jeff's eyes out..due to the hormones I'm sure! :)... I love him so much and appreciate him and that I'm so proud to say that he is the man God wanted me to walk through life with and that this is one of the many chapters in our book! I'm so very excited that in 25 years when both our kids are building their lives we will get to look at what we've accomplished together!

What do you think?

Everyone keeps telling us how Tripp looks just like Sadie. I can't decide... what do you think?

Tripp's 1st bath

We gave Tripp his 1st bath and I'm just now getting these pictures up... sorry!

He wasn't a fan, as most babies aren't. Hopefully one day he'll grow into liking them... we sure don't want a "stinky kid" on our hands! ;)

Sadie's 18 mo. visit and Tripp's 2 week visit

We took Sadie and Tripp for their well visits today. I just love our dr. in Stephenville. We had a little doubt at first, but now we are great! Sadie loves her too!

Sadie did great! She impressed the dr. with her speach. She puts a 2-3 words together now. Says just about anything... we still can't get her to say "Love you!" She knows her eyes, ears, nose, belly, mouth, feet. Can tell you what almost every animal says. We told her to put the trash in the trash can, and she did it. She is still a skinny, tall little thing. 21 lbs. 11 oz. and 31 in. tall. 15% on weight and over 75% on height!

Tripp also say Dr. Miller. He is doing good on the jaundice issue. Not completely gone, but much better. He is gaining weight like a champ! He is now 8 lbs... 5 days ago he was 7 lbs 4 oz. He is 20.25 in. long! Its so funny to have a baby with a little belly since Sadie was always so skinny!!!
